This is the Message of Easter:

Our Hope in Christ is Eternal

                                                                          by

                                                                  Dotty Moore

Easter is a reminder that hope is not dead. Because Jesus

                                    Christ lives, hope lives also.

Hope is probably one of the most difficult intangibles to explain.

When we admit to having hope, it's usually because things appear hopeless; therefore having hope is the only edge we have between hopeless defeat and last-minute victory.

I hate being without hope. Most of the time I refuse to let hopelessness take root in my heart. Yes, there are moments when an ugly seed of hopelessness sprouts in a bed of agonizing circumstances, but as long as I've got my wits about me, I "hope" I will always be bound and determined to call on Jesus' Name, asking Him to help me yank up that weed of unwelcome hopelessness and replace it with a mustard seed of faith.

Sometimes hopelessness is more like a mountain of doubt than a single unsightly sprout. And when compared to a mountain of confusing uncertainties, a tiny seed of faith is more elusive than a proverbial needle in a haystack. But, you know, just because hope is no bigger than a small seed doesn't mean our hope is lifeless. Life in a tiny seed is every bit as powerful as life in something as big as a mountain. Even when our doubts and fears loom large, it could be they are already as large as they will ever get.

Ah, but the seed. The seed of faith. When hope is confined in a mere seed, that very seed is a powerhouse of potential. No one will ever convince me that hope planted by God in a seed of faith is limited. A seed of faith in the Almighty God is a thousand times larger than any mountain fully grown.

From precisely where many of us are, right now, in our "today" world, there is more evidence pointing to hopelessness than the reverse. The economy is on a downward spiral. Morality is debatable and no longer an absolute. The institution of marriage as the joining of one man and one woman is on the verge of being crucified for the sake of "rights." Rights and wrongs are not interchangeable; yet we're often considered wrong in today's society when we profess what we "know" to be right.

If ever we needed a seed of faith -- a seed in the Hope of the Ages -- it's now. Now, as in we must not succumb to the pressure to cave in. We must not abandon what we know.

We know that God is God. We know that in Him nothing is impossible. We know that He defined hope for us by spelling it out in Hebrews 11:1: "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (King James Version).

Evidence. Evidence is proof positive. Easter Morning, when it was discovered that Christ arose, His resurrection was not a seed of possibility. It was as it was: Life!

    Life in Christ is Hope.

May each and every one of us have the Hope of Christ growing and thriving in us. Make no mistake, there are false seeds out there. False doctrines. False interpretations of Scripture. False gods. False prophets. Even false hope. It takes help to sort it all out. Easter is a reminder such a Helper lives.

Praise the Lord, Jesus is risen. Our hope in Him is eternal!
